Upon entering Soba, you are greeted by smooth river rock walls, zebra wood accents and a silent wall of water sliding over smooth slate. Housed in a dramatically renovated three story Victorian house, filled with plush nooks and shimmering crannies, Soba offers guests intimate and exquisite dining, along with a panoply of rooms for small to medium gatherings.

The cocktail culture and large offering of small plates build the perfect atmosphere for a transcendental experience. A dark and sexy Zen garden with sleek acolytes silently attending to its guests, Soba offers a distillation of Asian daydreams grounded in the hearty Earth.

From a menu that ranges from lobster shu mai and pad Thai through crunchy lettuce wraps filled with spicy shrimp or braised duck to the Korean-scented Soba seared rare tuna, bold flavors and thrilling textures are the hallmarks of our food. Aromas of Kaffir lime and ginger mingle with roasted meats and seared scallops.

The spacious lounge beckons with lavishly cushioned banquettes. The crisp, innovative drinks are served under subtle lighting and fresh, smoke-free ambiance. Our adventurous drink list is well versed in sakes and Alsatian-style whites, along with an exciting spectrum of lighter to bolder red wines. Our veteran bartenders build delicious seasonal cocktails as well, such as our renowned ginger-infused Sobatini.

Outdoor seating is available seasonally on the second floor patio, comfortably above the din of Ellsworth Avenue.

Brandy Stewart

Executive Chef Brandy Stewart returns to Soba after leading the kitchen at Kaya for three years. She previously served as wok cook at Soba, as Mr. Shu's assistant upstairs at Umi, and sous chef at Casbah.

Before joining big Burrito Restaurant Group, Stewart served in the Air Force, then graduated from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute.

An expansive scope of food was instilled early in her life; her mother grew up in South America and passed on recipes and reverence for the power of spice. Her father, a seasoned chef with a long career in the food and service industries, advised her about the demands of the trade.

Brandy lives with her husband and two daughters in Weirton, West Virginia.
